10 institutions of higher learning agree to offer more scholarships for athletes

  • The programme is scheduled to roll out next intake, benefitting 160 athletes
Ten private institutions of higher learning have signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Sports Council (NSC) to provide full scholarships to over 160 national athletes.

Institutions who have signed up are Allianze University College of Medical Sciences, Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Cyberlinx College, Erican College, HELP University, SEGi University, Sunway University, Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Taylor's University and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.Currently, three government universities provide for athletes who have completed their tertiary education at the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) and the Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (TMISS).According to Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, the courses provided by these 10 institutions are not necessarily sports related but enough to secure their future.
