International University of Malaysia-Wales (IUMW) celebrated its first convocation for its MBA graduates on 12 December 2015.
A total of 12 graduates successfully completed their Master of Business Administration programme at IUMW recently.
Present at the graduation were representatives from the University of Malaya and the University of Wales. This included Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya (UM) Professor Dato’ Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wales Professor Medwin Hughes.
At the ceremony, the President of IUMW Professor Dr Hamzah A. Rahman congratulated the students and shared his vision for the institution to be "an exemplary and innovative international higher education institution renowned for its graduates".
He added, "The MBA programme was one of the first postgraduate programmes that we developed. Numerous challenges in the form of quality delivery were overcome with students/members' feedback, support from both IUMW's parent universities and our committed staff. Most importantly, we had and still have, support from our beloved student members."
A representative of the batch of graduates also expressed his gratitude for the support from the institution. "Here at IUMW, we have received a great education through our fine administration and lecturers." He thanked all peers, lecturers, administrative staff as well as the janitors and guards who continued to ensure a smooth and comfortable study environment for students there. He attributed their success to the values learnt at IUMW, with the aim of helping and inspiring peers to achieve their potentials.
The efforts and hard work of the institution and students were also commended by the Chairman of IUMW YBhg Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Annuar Bin Zaini who officiated as well as closed the ceremony. He expressed his contentment and appreciation that the 12 students entrusted the new institution with their higher education.
The ceremony ended with the singing of the national anthems of Malaysia and Wales.
IUMW has developed a series of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that focus on outcomes over inputs and to pursue technologies and innovations that address students' needs and enable greater personalisation of the learning experience. One of the first postgraduate programmes we have developed to achieve the above vision is the MBA programme.
