Develop your higher order thinking skills (HOTs)

HELP University and Universiti Malaya (UM) will host a two-day seminar on the development of higher order thinking skills (HOTs) this 29-30 September 2015 at the UM Campus.

HOTS Malaysian Education

The national seminar is themed, "Model and Engage with Higher Order Thinking for Nation Building" and will emphasise the importance of thinking skills in education as underlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025. The thinking skills emphasises the written curriculum, the taught curriculum and the examined curriculum.

HOTs refers to thinking that requires cognitive processing involving critical, reflective thinking as well as decision making, problem-solving and reasoning.

The seminar welcomes all researchers, education policy-makers, educators and professionals interested in learning more on HOTs and how to use education to build a progressive nation. Participants will learn to develop HOTs through various workshops conducted by Dr Nor Sakinah Mohamed from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr Rouhollah Khodabandelou from HELP University as well as Kamaleswaran Jayarajah and colleagues from UM.
