LAWASIA is an international organisation of lawyers’ associations, individual lawyers, judges, legal academics, and others that focus on the interests and concerns of the legal profession in the Asia Pacific region. LAWASIA is also the host of a moot competition which tests students from not only Malaysia but all around Asia, in the area of arbitration. In each round, the participating teams will be divided into either the claimant or the defendant who will be judged by a panel of 3 arbitrators (judges, lawyers or legal academics).

LAWASIA Meet 2019

This year, the team from ATC comprising of Jason Chong Wai Zhe, Kim Sung and Jessica Marshall emerged as the 1st Runner Up in the competition and will be representing Malaysia in the upcoming International Rounds which are being held in Hong Kong later in November 2019. The second team representing ATC comprising of Danial Arif B. Heron Khalid Goh, Jaclyn Kee Yee Pei and Farid B. Yusof won the Spirit of LAWASIA Award. This is awarded to teams which showed strongest camaraderie and sportsmanlike behaviour that LAWASIA tries to cultivate among students and future lawyers.

Spirit of Lawasia Award

The KL Bar Moot Court Competition 2019 was an effort by the KL Bar Young Lawyers Committee to give the law students a sneak peek of what real-life practice entails for the law students. A mixture of private and public universities grace the competition. One of the objectives in mind is to cultivate the spirit of apprentice - mentorship between the mooters and coaches.

Champions

For this year, ATC's team comprised Seena Kaur, Melvin Moi, Subash Jai Devaraj, Low Ming Yung and Shalini Ravindranathan, who emerged as Champions of the competition. Subash Jai was also awarded the Best Oralist of the competition.
